Explanation (?):

The RIP listener service allows a Windows computer to monitor the network for Ripv1 routing updates. This lets your network run a bit more smoothly without you having to manually update static routes. Since it's only Ripv1 it doesn't help in a highly segmented network, because Ripv1 doesn't broadcast the subnet mask information. This service should only be used on a corporate network, and even then it's usefulness is limited. I suggest that you uninstall this feature unless you need it.
